Calculate average stridelength

There are various ways to determine the average stridelength to optimize the measurements of your Vifit Touch Tracker.

The following three ways describe the easiest methods to determine the average stridelentgh.

1. Measure the stridelength at home:

  • Lay out a measurment tape on the floor of a large room
  • Walk next to the measurement tape and stop after a few steps
  • Now measure the distance between the tips of both feet
  • Repeat this method twice to get two more values
  • Add all three values and divide the sum by 3
  • Now you have the average stridelength which you can enter in the VitaDock+ app

2. Measure on a track

  • Search for a measured track (e.g. a 100m track)
  • Walk along this track in your average velocity and count your steps
  • Divide the length of the track (in cm) by the counted steps
  • Now you have the average stridelength which you can enter in the VitaDock+ app

3. Measure on a treadmill

  • Step on your treadmill and activate your Vifit Touch Tracker. Remember the steps on the display of the tracker.
  • Start the treadmill and set it to your average walking velocity
  • The accuracy increases the more you walk on the treadmill (about 500m suffice)
  • Now calculate the steps you walked on the treadmill (difference between the steps you remembered at the beginning and the steps that are now displayed on your tracker)
  • Divide the distance you walked on your treadmill (in cm) by the steps you walked.
  • Now you have the average stridelength which you can enter in the VitaDock+ app
