Is blood pressure age-dependent?

Within an average population high blood pressure is found more frequently in the older age groups. This is due to the reduced elasticity of the blood vessels with a higher age.

But the blood pressure shouldn't exceed a value of 140/85 mmHg in any case, even in older age groups.
